| About Terrier-Bytes V2.0 |
Well, if you've got to this page you've obviously taken a liking to Terrier-Bytes, so this may interest you a bit - it's the history of Terrier-Bytes and what was before it.
You see, this site hasn't always been called Terrier-Bytes, it first started off as HTAFC World (not to be mistaken with the brilliant, Huddersfield Town cartoon site, HTFC World), and was hosted on Homestead. I built the site using Homestead's visual builder back in early 2001, and I don't think I needed to code one bit of it. To be honest, it was a very basic site, and was a victim of me building my first ever Website and trying to be flashy! You can see a screenshot of it here.
After I'd learnt my first bit of HTML I developed the 2nd version of HTAFC World. This site only lasted for a few months, I think, before I launched the first version of Terrier-Bytes. I remember this site fondly because it was the one I had online at the moment Town were cruelly relegated from Division One (Championship). It had a snazzy DHTML navigation bar, polls, and yet more silly, flashy graphics! The novelty was to wear off on my next attempt at a Town site though. Click here for a screenshot.
Yes, that's right, the first version of Terrier-Bytes arrived in late 2001 and didn't have any silly, flashy graphics present anywhere really, I'd started to actually concentrate on the 'behind the scenes' stuff such as the code and the use of databases. On my third attempt at a Town site, I'd finally managed to attract a fair few Town fans, a lot of them coming from the old official Huddersfield Town Website. Along with the site I added a community, then known as HTAFC Forums, now the Terrier-Bytes Forums. Along with the help of Phill and Rachel, the site started to have a bit of content in the early days, and even more further down the line with addition of Beaker, Andy, Sean and Peter. This is how it looked - probably a familiar sight to most of you if you're regulars. This site was, no doubt, a success, and it led to the current version of Terrier-Bytes launched in January 2005.
So, after nearly four years without a fresh design, here it finally is, Terrier-Bytes Version 2.0. In this version I've tried to migrate all of the old site's content on to here, and then over time my plan is to update various pages with new information or a new look. One area I am focusing on especially is the news system. I've tried to take advantage of my knowledge of image editing and Web development for this version, so hopefully you're satisfied with it! You can let me know what you think by sending me feedback through the contact page. Any will be appreciated, as always.
Anyway, that's about it. Thanks for visiting and come back soon!
