Scannell Makes Terriers Switch

Huddersfield Town confirmed last night the signing of Crystal Palace winger Sean Scannell for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year old is a product of Palace's academy and signs a three-year deal with Town bringing to an end a nine-year stint with The Eagles.

Town had an offer rejected in January for the winger but Palace manager Dougie Freedman has decided to offload Scannell who only signed a four-year contract with Palace in December 2011.

The Croydon-born winger, who has played in Ireland's U17, U18 and B side, made 28 starts last season and 13 from the bench. Some Palace sources say that he is more effective as an impact player coming off the bench.

In total Scannell has made 141 appearances scoring 13 goals. During his time with The Eagles he won Palace's Young Player of the Year in 2008, Ireland's Young Player of the Year in the same year and the Championship's Apprentice of the Year award a year later.
