Terriers Sign Cardiff Defender Anthony Gerrard |
| Reports from BBC Sports and Wales Online are saying that Huddersfield Town have signed Cardiff City defender Anthony Gerrard for £350,000. The 26-year old was linked with Town a month ago but it has seemed at the time the interest had cooled. Anthony, cousin of Liverpool captain Steven, has not played for Cardiff since missing a penalty in the Carling Cup final against Liverpool in February this year. It looked likely Gerrard would leave the Bluebirds having been left out of Cardiff's pre-season tour. Other Championship clubs were interested in the former Everton trainee two to name are Bristol City and Leicester. Gerrard started his career at Everton before moving on to Walsall on a free in 2005. He spent four years at the Bescott Stadium amd was apart of the Walsall team that won League Two in 2007. A bid by Southampton in the summer of 2008 was rejected which led to Gerrard handing in a transfer request later in the season. In the summer of 2009 he moved on to Cardiff City and was loaned out to Hull City during the 2010/11 season winning The Tigers supporters player of the year before returning to South Wales. |
