Colchester United V Huddersfield Town- Preview
Town will be the first ever visitors to Colchester’s new stadium called the Weston Home Community Stadium which is a 10,000 all-seater stadium.
Town will be in high spirits after demolishing neighbours Bradford City 4-0 in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night but Colchester will be eager to put behind their disappointing 4-2 defeat at Hartlepool last Saturday.

The last time Town played Colchester at Colchester was back in September 2005 when a Gary Taylor-Fletcher goal helped Town come away with a point in a 1-1 draw in which both teams had a man sent off.

Colchester lost their 16 goal hitman in the summer, Kevin Lisbie joined Ipswich Town for £600,000. Manager Geraint Williams moved quickly to find a replacement by signing Steven Gillespie for £400,000 from Cheltenham Town.
Williams also signed some experienced players in Paul Reid, the ex-Barnsley defender and captain, who was linked with Town when Andy Ritchie was manager, Matt Heath on a free from Leeds United, 21 year old David Perkins on a undisclosed fee and left back Matt Lockwood from newly promoted Nottingham Forest.

Perkins is suspended for tomorrow’s match, defender Pat Baldwin is also out with a shoulder injury. Strikers Colin Platt and former Blackpool striker Scott Vernon will most likely be leading the attack with £400,000 signing Gillespie on the bench. Both Platt and Vernon are experienced forwards so the Town defence will have to be alert. Both are strong in the area so Town should try to cut out their ariel threat.
Winger Mark Yeates will probably be the biggest threat to Town, a pacy winger with an eye for goal, will look onto take on defenders and get in crosses.

Colchester predicted eleven (made and from htafc.com)

Goalkeeper: Gerken
Defenders: Ifil, Coyne, Reid, White
Midfielders: Wordsworth, Jackson, Hammond, Yeates
Forwards: Platt, Vernon.

Town’s new signing Tom Denton will not be in the 18 players travelling down to Colchester, Andy Booth is back from injury that kept him out of the midweek Carling Cup match with Bradford.
James Berrett is on Republic of Ireland U21 duty, the only injured player in young defender Shane Killock who has a throat infection.
I think it could be possibly the same team that drew with Stockport County last Saturday on the first game of the season but I’ll plum for Worthington being back in midfield.
Worthington will have done himself no harm with an impressive performance against Bradford along side Jim Goodwin.

Sean’s predicted eleven:

Goalkeeper: Glennon
Defenders: Unsworth, Butler, Lucketti, Holdsworth
Midfield: Flynn, Goodwin, Worthington, Roberts
Forwards: Booth, Cadermarteri

Subs: Smithies, Collins, Beckett, Parker, Skarz.

The referee for tomorrow’s match is Robert Shoebridge from Derbyshire.
Taken charge of one game this season in the Carling Cup match between Luton and Plymouth. Luton won 2-0 and only one player was booked.
The last tome Shoebridge took charge of a Town match was against Cheltenham Town in a 3-2 defeat at the Galpharm Stadium in September 2007
