Millwall vs Huddersfield Town - Preview
Huddersfield Town story posted by Sean Makin on 29/08/2008
Town head to the East London to take on Millwall at the New Den in search of their first win of the season in League One
Town shouldn't be too down-hearted by their midweek loss in the Carling Cup to Sheffield United and Town boss Stan Ternent will be hoping for a similar display at Milwall.
Millwall too have had a disappointing start to the season, 2 points from a possible 9. Boss Kenny Jackett wasn't happy with last week's 1-1 draw away at Northampton Town. It is pay on the day down at the New Den for Town fans and there is also another coach going down to London. (See Htafc.com for more details.
Past Meetings
Town have played Milwall 33 times in all competitions, Town winning 15, Millwall 13 and 5 draws.
Town are unbeaten against Millwall since the 1991/92 season when Millwall beat Town 4-0 in the F.A Cup.
Last season at the New Den Town came away with a 2-1 win with goals from Andy Booth and Malvin Kamara
Town Team News
Ternent has Ian Craney and Liam Dickinson back for Town, Craney was cup-tied against Sheffield United and Derby didn't give permission for Dickinson to play respectively. Hopefully both will play better than they did on their debuts in the 3-1 defeat against the MK Dons at the Galpharm.
Injury concerns for Andy Booth, Andy Butler and James Berrett. Booth missed the Sheffield United game due to a back problem so too did Butler with a abdominal injury. James Berrett picked up an ankle problem in traning.
Sean's Predicted Eleven:
Glennon
Holdsworth, Clarke (N), Lucketti, Williams
Roberts, Worthington, Flynn, Cadamarteri
Dickinson, Parker
Millwall Team News
Boss Kenny Jackett brought in 3 new faces so far, Nadjim Abdou, a defensive midfielder from Plymouth, Tony Craig, can play defence or midfield from Crystal Palace and Tresor Kandol, a striker on loan Leeds United.
Kandol missed the 1-1 draw with Northampton Town last weekend, so too did David Brammer and Adrian Forbes. Kandol could be fit to play against Town but it is unclear if Brammer and Forbes will be.
Predicted Eleven (from htafc.com)
GK: Forde
DF: Frampton, Whitbread, Robinson, Hackett
MF: Martin, Craig, Laird, Brkovic
ST: Alexander, Harris
One To Watch
Ahmet Brkovic- Brkovic can play either flank but it is his match-winning ability that I've put him as the one to watch. The former Luton man is a tidy, hard working player who can really play anywhere in midfield.
He likes to get forward and has the knack of timing his runs into the penalty area, some say his best days are behind him when he was at Luton but he can still do damage to any League One side.
