My V.I.P day out at the game
The day started with me picking up my suit from the hire shop and trying to explain to the guy behind the counter why I supported Huddersfield Town when Leeds were nearer! Some people just don't understand! At 4pm I was picked up from home by my Dad who was coming with me (I was taking him to the game for his birthday), and we set off to the ground.

We arrived at the ground at 4:40pm and headed straight to the Rope Walk (the pub nearest the ground). We didn't have to be inside the stadium till 5:15pm, so we had a couple of drinks first and then headed to the main reception.

We were greeted by a very grumpy security guard, who didn't know anything about this V.I.P Experience package I had booked for us, and he wouldn't let us pass until he found out! 10 minutes later he returned, and ushered us up to the 3rd floor to be met by yet another grumpy security guard. Again we were kept waiting while he found out where we were supposed to be (I now realise that everything at Town is unorganised, just look at the defence last season!). After another 10 minutes he returned and led us to one of the Directors boxes. Apparently, not enough people had booked the Experience, so we were all going to be in this very plush box instead of the big function room at the back of the stadium! RESULT!!!

After a few more drinks, and the rest of the people had turned up (there were 10 of us all in all) we were then taken on a quick tour of the stadium. First stop, the Home changing room, well what can I say about that apart from… BLIMEY! It wasn't what I had expected at all, it was very small and a little bit scruffy, but it was the HOME dressing room, and I was in it!

And then I saw it…. The No 9 shirt! Just hanging there, waiting to be touched, I wanted to do it, but there was too many people in there with me, I felt really daft, but then I thought "Sod it" and made a grab for it. Id done it, id touched Boothy's shirt!

Next stop was the tunnel, this is what id been waiting for, the walk on to the pitch, I felt like a little kid again, as I walked out I was pretending to be a player, in my head I could here all the cheering and chanting, people shouting my name, then I came to my senses, that felt great, ill never forget that moment. I sat down in the Home dugout for a bit, then we were led up to the Boardroom to see where, as the guide put it, all the big decisions were made (like the sales off Stewart/Vaasen and Vincent)!

In the Boardroom stands our Trophy cabinet, not very full may I add, but still impressive. The main trophy that I never get tired of seeing is the one we were given for winning the League 3 times in a row, it is a big silver shield that hangs just outside the Boardroom, only 4 other clubs have one of these, which makes it more impressive. After this we went back to our box to prepare for our 3-course meal and the kick off. The meal was excellent (it made up for the poor game that was going on outside)!

The box we were in was the one held by the Matchball sponsors for that game, so the Man of the Match presentation was held in our box. At about 10pm Chris Hay (man of the match) arrived for a little photo shoot and to be handed his bottle of champagne, we all got in on the photo, so im hoping to be in this weekends programme. As it was my Dads birthday, I had arranged a little special surprise for him with the club, Chris Hay shook his hand and handed him a birthday card signed by all the players and a bottle of wine, as well as a picture of the two of them for him to take with him, he was well chuffed. Sadly, this was the end of the night, and we headed off back to the car for the ride home...

P.S: I also won the 3rd prize on the Golden Gamble which is a Home shirt signed by all the players, but I have to go and pick it up this Saturday and have my photo taken for a publicity shoot. So maybe ill be in the following weeks programme as well!

See ya all
