Dawlish Town 1 v 4 Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town story posted by Garfield (Admin) on 20/07/2001
The Town squad had a comfortable workout against the non-league side. To Lou Macari it was more a means of giving players match play than winning. But in the event they did win easily even though eighteen Town players were used in the match. The tall Jamaican goalkeeper, Donovan Ricketts, played the full ninety minutes and wasn't tested too much by the home side.Dawlish Town 1 v 4 Huddersfield Town

Some bonuses from the game were that both Chris Lucketti and Kenny Irons shrugged off their groin injuries to last 73 minutes before being substituted. Also Chris Beech played for all the game and looked particularly sharp. However Smith and Baldry didn't take part as they are still under treatment.

Young Nat Brown opened Town's scoring in the first 10 minutes. It was Paul Macari who caused the problem for the Dawlish defence and Brown was on hand to sweep the ball home. Lou's young lad has certainly looked sharp in the matches he's played in lately. And it was Macari who scored the second when a long ball by Lucketti cleared the defenders and Macari was there to beat the keeper. Macari was also on hand just before half time to head Town's third as well.

There were five substitutions after half time with some regular first teamers coming on. But the opposite effect occurred with Dawlish scoring just 10 minutes after the break. However Town were easily in control and on 81 minutes Kevin Gray, that well known striker, bundled home from short range to make it 4-1.
