Preview - Huddersfield Town v Blackburn Rovers
Huddersfield Town story posted by Sean Makin on 14/08/2015
Huddersfield Town fans will be hoping for better after the farce against Notts County in the League Cup in midweek but the pressure is on both sides after a dismal start to the season.
Town of course lost the opening match against Hull City last weekend and were then knocked out of the League Cup on Tuesday night by League Two side Notts County.
But like the Terriers, Blackburn have also lost both matches, losing to Wolves and Shrewsbury Town respectively.
It has been a tough summer for Rovers as manager Gary Bowyer has had his hands tied in the transfer market by the transfer embargo the club are under for falling foul of the financial fair play rules.
They lost key midfielder Tom Cairney to Fulham and seen hitman Rudy Gestede sold to Premier League Aston Villa.
But they have kept hold of former Town striker Jordan Rhodes - for now - as he continues to be linked with a move away from Ewood Park.
It makes grim reading for Town fans in our record against the Lancashire side - the Terriers haven't beaten them in 10 attempts with the last victory in August 1999 with a 3-2 win.
Rhodes also has haunted Huddersfield since. The Scotland international has scored six goals in six games against his former employers.
Team News
Chris Powell is hoping Sean Scannell will have recovered from a hamstring injury and is available for selection.
The Town boss is also optimistic about the return of Joe Lolley and James Vaughan, who missed the last two matches through injury.
Alex Smithies will be back in goal after missing the League Cup defeat against Notts County after becoming a father for the first time.
Blackburn may give starts to Fode Koita and Mo Barrow while new signing Hope Akpan is also in line for his debut.
Chris Taylor is the only player that is ruled out after picking up a groin injury towards the end of last season.
