Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies has now completed his move to Queens Park Rangers in a £2million deal.QPR sign Smithies

Smithies, 25, came through the academy at Huddersfield Town and went on to make 274 appearances for the club.

The Huddersfield-born goalkeeper could be in line to face Town when QPR visit the John Smith's Stadium on August 29.

Rangers had been in discussion with chairman Dean Hoyle on Friday and the two parties agreed a fee, leading to Smithies missing the draw against Blackburn Rovers last weekend and Brighton on Tuesday night.

The deal has now been completed, which is understood to be around £2m, and Hoyle has promised the money will be reinvested in the team.

We all wish Alex all the best for the future and he has been a great servant for Huddersfield Town.
