Derby County in the Carling Cup First Round

At 10am this morning the draw took place for the newly titled Carling Cup, after Carling struck a three-year deal with the Football League to sponsor the League Cup competition. Huddersfield Town were the first team out of the 'hat', earning them a home tie at the McAlpine, which will surely please most Town fans. Their opponents will be First Division promotion-hopefuls Derby County.Derby County in the Carling Cup First Round

The last time the Terriers met the Rams was in the FA Cup Fifth Round just over four years ago. Town drew the First Leg 2-2 but lost in the replay 3-1. Back then Derby were in the Premiership and we were in the First Division.

Only one game will be played between the teams on the week commencing the 11th of August. There is no second leg in the tie.
