A Stewart return would delight the fans
Huddersfield Town story posted by Garfield (Admin) on 20/07/2003
The latest Terrier Poll, which has been active on Terrier-Bytes since last Sunday, asked who you would want back at the McAlpine playing for Huddersfield Town out of Tom Cowan, Ronnie Jepson, Marcus Stewart, Nico Vaesen and Darren Bullock. In the end, after the votes were counted, Bristol-born Stewart, currently playing for First Division side Sunderland, topped the votes with over twenty percent more than 'Rocket' Ronnie Jepson who got the second highest amount of votes.
Stewart, 30, signed for the Terriers for 1.2 million from Bristol Rovers in 1996. He played nearly four consecutive seasons before being transferred to Ipswich Town in a 2.5 million deal - a deal which some fans claim wrecked Town's Premiership dreams and spurred the relegations in the years to come.
Fans may be able to pay tribute to Marcus on Wednesday night when the Terriers meet the Black Cats at the McAlpine Stadium. If Mick McCarthy decides to give the ex-Town favourite a run out, there's no doubt that he'll receive a great reception.
The poll proves Ronnie Jepson, nicknamed 'Rocket Ron' by many Town fans, is still very popular with the Terrier-Bytes users. He, along with Marcus Stewart, were fighting a dual as Tom Cowan, Darren Bullock and Nico Vaesen didn't come anywhere close as far as the votes were concerned.
Terrier Poll Results
Q: Which former Town player would you want back at the Mac?
Tom Cowan - 2.38%
Ronnie Jepson - 30.95%
Marcus Stewart - 54.76%
Nico Vaesen - 4.76%
Darren Bullock - 7.14%
A new poll is now online which asks who you think will prove to be the best signing out of the current Town trialists. You can access the poll through the homepage or by clicking 'Terrier Poll' in the menu on your left.
