Terriers v Black Cats Picture Special
Huddersfield Town story posted by Garfield (Admin) on 24/07/2003
Huddersfield Town made it three friendly wins out of three tonight at the McAlpine Stadium with a 2-0 Ian Gray-inspired victory against First Division Sunderland who, to be quite honest, fielded a number of first team regulars including Jason McAteer and ex-Town man Marcus Stewart.
At half-time the score was level at 0-0. Ten minutes into the second half saw Jon Stead square the ball to Jon Newby inside Sunderland's penalty area and then smash the ball into the back of the net from 12 yards out. It was great to see such interplay between the two young strikers - they both looked really promosing working together.
Ten to fifteen minutes later, Jon Stead scored Town's second with a beautiful looping header from a left-hand-side Edwards cross.
The full match report will appear here tomorrow sometime. Until then, feast your eyes on some of tonight's action.

1. Warming up before the game

2. Town celebrate Newby's goal

3. 1-0 to the Town!

4. Edwards does a bit of commanding

5. Ian Gray stands waiting for action
Oh, also, if you want a place to relax before or after Town's next game, then why not pop into the Slubbers Arms in Birkby, near Halfords?
