Sheffield Wednesday 2 v 2 Huddersfield Town
Huddersfield Town story posted by Garfield (Admin) on 25/07/2003
Two Jon Stead goals earned Huddersfield Town a draw in the behind-closed doors friendly against Sheffield Wednesday, according to the Owls' Official Website. This result keeps the Terriers' pre-season unbeaten streak intact and proves that the new squad is a force to be reckoned with!
If things continue to progress as they're doing at the moment, I can't see why we can't be pushing for an automatic promotion spot come the end of the season. All the signs of a truly committed team are there to see. Also, Jon Stead seems to be a transformed player judging by the recent pre-season friendlies.
This is the report which features on Sheffield Wednesday's Official Website:
"Kuqi and Gordon Watson gave Wednesday a 2-2 draw in their behind-closed-doors friendly against Huddersfield Town.
"The visitors, who earlier this week beat a full-strength Sunderland side, 2-0, were two goals ahead early in the second-half, through highly-rated striker Jon Stead.
"But Kuqi reduced the arrears when he fired home a left-footed, 20-yard blockbuster, and Watson deservedly nodded the Owls level with a neat, glancing header from Terry Cooke's cross. In between, Kuqi hit the post with a powerful header."
