Swansea City v Huddersfield Town
Huddersfield Town story posted by Garfield (Admin) on 18/09/2003
On the back of two very impressive displays, Huddersfield Town will be looking to make it three in a row against Swansea City. However, Efe Sodje's absence will be sorely missed, especially as the Welsh side have Lee Trundle - Division Three's leading scorer - in their team.
Swansea are currently sitting top of the Division Three table with sixteen points. They've won all four of their home games so far this season beating Bury 4-2, Boston United 3-0, Mansfield Town 4-1 and Macclesfield 3-0. One positive, however, is that Trundle has scored the majority of his goals away from the Vetch Field.
Forget worrying about Trundle, though, because we have Division Three's second top scorer with six, Jon Stead. If Stead is on-form then Town could win comfortably. Otherwise, if he's off-form, a defeat could be on the cards.
Swansea's defence at home is quite good having only let in three in four games. Away, though, they've managed to concede ten in four games, which is pretty abysmal to say the least. Town's strikeforce will manage a goal or two, I reckon.
Town's lineup for Saturday's game will not be too different to that which played Rochdale on Tuesday night. Mirfin or Yates will come in for Sodje to partner Scott in defence. Holdsworth is looking doubtful for the game so expect Newby to fill the right midfield position. Ahmed could be in contention for the place, too.
The last time the Terriers were at the Vetch Field Town's up-and-coming striker, Andy Booth, hit a goal in a 1-1 draw. That striker is now a lot wiser and experienced albeit a lot less mobile. Let's hope for Town's present up-and-coming striker, Jon Stead, to hit home a goal on Saturday just as Booth did in 1994. Actually, let's hope he hits a hat-trick!
Garfield's prediction: We always seem to do better against the stronger teams, so I'm going for a 3-2 victory with Steadinho bagging at least one of the goals!
