Colchester v Town
Huddersfield Town story posted by Peter MacGibbon on 19/11/2004
In League One we are 3 points ahead of Colchester but the U?s recent form is worse than ours. Over the last eight games they have picked up only 7 points compared with our 12. We know only too well, however, that since the win over Luton we have slipped downhill, losing our form on the field. Our set piece defending has been sloppy and although he is erratic and his own worst enemy Efe is being missed.
The strikers aren?t hitting the target and we will still be without Boothy this week. Lee Fowler is also out and Andy Holdsworth?s participation depends on a fitness test today. It seems likely that Carrs, McAliskey and Edwards will travel to Colchester but all three have only just recovered from injuries. Trigger and Akpo Sodje are still out.
Colchester are still missing their skipper, Karl Duguid. He has been out for three months but is now back in training. Wayne Brown is currently suspended and will miss the match. Bobby Bowry and Ken Izzet will be missing injured but ?keeper Davison will be back in contention.
Colchester have only won one of their last four home league games, drawing one and losing the other two with a 4-6 goals record. This exactly matches our away record except that we are even steven on goals, 7-7.
On the plus side for the U?s they are still in the FA Cup; they replay on Tuesday after being held to a draw by Mansfield.
We last played at Layer Road in March 2003, losing 2-0. on our way to relegation!
The bookies have them as favourites at 5/4 with us 2/1. The 9/4 on offer for the draw might be the best bet!
