Town v Valiants

Happy Christmas Everybody!
Here we go into the first game of the second half of the season. Actually that isn?t strictly accurate as we still have to play the first match against Bournemouth, that will be on Tuesday, in Bournemouth, with the return on 22nd January.
In September we played Port Vale, at Vale Park. Pawel Abbott scored a hat trick as we won 3-0. That placed us 5th with the Valiants 6th. This time round we are currently on the same points, 29, but lying in the bottom half of the table. We are only ahead of them on goal difference, 32 ? 29 compared with 27 - 33 . Another Abbott hat-trick would do us fine; I can?t be the only one fed up with us playing well but not picking up the points.
Whilst we were losing to the Bantams last Saturday they were playing at home beating Oldham3-1. Their goals were scored by Paynter, Birchall and Matthews. That makes Paynter their top scorer with 6 goals.
We came through the derby match unscathed and with Yates now fit we will only be missing Andy Booth and the suspended Lee Fowler. Sam Collins is injured for the Valiants but midfielder Robin Hulbert could be back in action for them.
It would be good to think that we could repeat our victory from Vale Park but, in our current form, even a draw would be an improvement. Let?s hope that we come out of the match with an effective, settled, formation to take us into the New Year.
