Town v Luton
Huddersfield Town story posted by Peter MacGibbon on 03/02/2005
On the 16th October The Terriers were the first team to beat Luton this season and are still the only team to have done so at Kennilworth Road. Junior Mendes scored our two goals. Our team that day was:
Gray; Holdsworth, Yates, Clarke, Sodje, Lloyd; Brandon (sub Mirfin 83), Worthington, Carss ; Mendes (sub Fowler 79), Abbott (sub Booth 70). Subs not used: Senior, Brown.
Luton recovered from this setback and although they no longer have a commanding lead in League One they continue to dispute the top spot with Hull and the pair of them are 20 points ahead of us. We have gone downhill since that great day in October but for Luton it proved a minor blip. They have only lost four league games compared with our 12 defeats!
It now looks unlikely that Jacko will be able to strengthen the team before Saturday. (Ironically Luton?s left back, Sol Davies, has just signed an extension to his contract). Carss and Holdsworth are out following their hernia operations and Lloyd has a calf strain, otherwise we have a full squad.
Our target is to win ten of the last sixteen games. This is the first of them and would be a good game to win. The double over Luton would be sweet but they will be determined to avenge that earlier defeat!
With our recent form I would be prepared to accept a draw but maybe playing a good side will inspire us to perform for the full 90 minutes.
