MK Dons v Town
Huddersfield Town story posted by Peter MacGibbon on 11/02/2005
3-1 was the score when we played the MK Dons at the Galpharm late in October. Two goals from Pawel and one from Mendes saw us leading 3-0 at half time. Was this the first time we started dropping away in the second half?
Now we are making our first visit to the National Hockey Stadium, just as the Dons are experiencing a resurgence, pulling themselves almost out of the relegation zone. Any team that can put 4 goals past Bradford City, at Valley Parade, has to be respected! Our previous record against Wimbledon is a bit irrelevant now.
It is six games since the Dons suffered a Home defeat and five since we recorded an away win. They have been leaking goals more than us this season. They have conceded 56 compared with our 48. Maybe Luke Beckett can increase their ?goals against? tally as a farewell present to us.
In addition to Holdsworth and Carrs, still recovering from their hernia operations, we will be without Efe, who is suspended following five yellows, and Steve Yates who got injured in the reserve match during the week.
We are going to be playing with a young defence, built round Mirfin and Nathan Clarke. These two, however, do inspire one with confidence.
The Dons will have centre back Chorley available. He picked up a fifth yellow last Saturday but it has been rescinded. Their young keeper, David Martin, who stopped us scoring more than 3 last time, had a good game for the England U19 this week and will be keen to keep a clean sheet. Paul Mitchell?s loan spell from Wigan has been extended for a further month so he will be appearing against us.
With the Dons tails up I hope we can at least get a draw from this encounter. A win would be better but I think we will have our work cut out to achieve one.
