Beckett to stay for another month!
Huddersfield Town story posted by Garfield (Admin) on 14/02/2005
Luke Beckett's loan deal at the Galpharm Stadium has been extended a further month, it has just been confirmed on the official site. The striker will now return to Sheffield United on the 12th March and will be available to play against Blackpool at the weekend.
The deal was agreed this morning after Peter Jackson had talks with Blades' manager Neil Warnock. However, Sheffield United have a 24 hour recall stipulation in the contract, which means he could possibly return sooner if injury problems arise at Brammal Lane.
Jackson spoke of the news earlier today.
"It is excellent news that Luke is staying because we have a real striker shortage for this weekend's game. Pav is suspended having picked up his fifth booking of the season on Saturday and Boothy had to be replaced at half time with a groin injury.
Sheffield have a 24 hour recall on him but I am happy with that and I would like to thank them for their help. Luke will be training at Sheffield today but he really enjoyed his first month here and he was desperate to stay with us. He has been improving and scoring goals and it would surprise me if, when he does go back to Sheffield, he doesn't get into the first team."
This news will be a major boost for everyone associated with Huddersfield Town and will help ease our striker crisis for this Saturday's game against the Seasiders.
