Town v Oldham
You win some, you lose some! Our winner is that although we lost 1-2 to Oldham at Boundary Park in December that was largely down to Les Pogliacomi in the Oldham goal having a brilliant game. Since then he has lost his place to newcomer Steve Mildenhall who conceded five to Bristol City on Tuesday. Either way we could be on a winner! Our loser is the recall of Luke Beckett by the Blades. In the space of a few short weeks we have got used to his scoring for us.

When we last played the Latics we were 10th in the table, four points better off than them in 17th. Now we are 14th six points beeter off than Oldham in 19th, but they have a game in hand. The last time we played them at the McAlpine was in May 2003 and the game was a 1-1 draw.

With Boothy still out it looks like an Abbott/McAliskey strike partnership. Let?s hope that Mildenhall keeps his place between the sticks for the Latics. When he played for Notts County in a reserve game earlier in the season McAliskey put a hat trick past him! In addition to Booth, Holdsworth and Carss are still out but may be back next week. Chris Brandon will be available again after his suspension and Dave Mirfin hopes to be fit to start. Michael Collins should be on a high! Having played well he has now got a contract

Kilkenny will be out for Oldham, suspended, Mark Bonner will probably take his place. It is David Eyres 41st Birthday on Saturday, if my maths are right he was playing professionally when Tom Clarke was born! Striker Scott Vernon fractured a cheek bone last Saturday and will be out of the reckoning for six weeks. Manager Brian Talbot has left by mutual consent, and Tony Philliskirk will be in charge of the team on Saturday. Alex Bruce, Steve?s son, will line up against us at fullback.

The Oldham fan site is tipping us to win but I am not so sure. The reaction to the midweek thrashing, and Brian Talbot's departure, will surely make the Latics very determined. We may have to settle for a draw!
