Bantams v Terriers
Huddersfield Town story posted by Peter MacGibbon on 03/03/2005
You won?t need me to remind you that we lost 0-1 to the Bantams, at the Galpharm, in December. We deserved better than that, a draw would have been a fairer reflection of a hard fought game.
We start on Saturday with a couple of advantages. Bradford haven?t done the double over us for 80 years and they haven?t won a league match at Valley Parade since October! Currently the Bantams are two places and four points ahead of us in the table. Whilst we were beating Oldham last week they were probably lucky to scrape a draw at Walsall. Still that is better than we managed on our visit there at the end of January. Over the last eight games we have picked up 10 pts compared with their seven.
It was a surprise last week to see both Holdsworth and Carss taking part against Oldham so soon after their hernia ops. Most observers expected then to be back this week at the earliest. Tom Clarke seems to have made a similarly miraculous recovery from his injury last week and could well be in the reckoning on Saturday. Chris Brandon, being a former Bradford P A player and a Bradford resident, is fired up for the game after various altercations he had in the December match and the interview he gave to the Telegraph and Argus recently. Delroy was on loan to Bradford some time ago and picked the Terriers over the Bantams last week so he will be keen to impress. Last week?s match must have improved his fitness no end. Booth is still out but otherwise we have a full squad to pick from
For the Bantams Dean Windass will be back from injury, (I wonder who his son will be supporting?). Tom Kearney is still out of action but David Weatherall is back from suspension.
Expect a hard, no quarter given game. A real derby blooding, (not literally, I hope), for our Young Guns.
Incidentally check your travel plans. You
will be using the Yorkshire First (East) Stand and the TL Dallas (South) Stand. Midland Road is going to be closed to prevent Bantam fans walking past the East stand.
