Town v Stockport

Huddersfield Town story posted by Peter MacGibbon on 17/03/2005
When we went to Stockport, for the opening match of the season, they were one of the bookies favourites for promotion to the Championship. Consequently we came home well satisfied with a 3-2 win. Had we but known! Stockport are now odds-on for relegation. We played them again, in November, at Edgeley Park, and they dumped us out of the FA Cup. At the time we said ?Ah well, never mind. Now we can concentrate on the league!? Haven?t made too good a job of it, have we?Town v Stockport

Saturday we meet them at the Galpharm and as far as we are concerned it is a ?must win? match if we are to keep clear of a relegation struggle. We have a full squad to pick from apart from the three suspended players; Worthington, Efe Sodje and Tom Clarke. It seems unlikely that Pav will start. It seems he has been lackadaisical at training and Jacko is definitely not impressed! . We will almost certainly start with Facey,(wanted by Oldham!), and Booth, as last week. Edwards will probably get the nod at left back.

Stockport will have Evan Horwood, on loan from the Blades, at left back. He seems to be quite impressive. County?s striker Wayne Feeney has caught the eye of the Northern Ireland selectors and is in their squad for the England and Poland qualifiers. Assuming Adnan Ahmed plays then there will be two Asians on the pitch; Harpal Singh, on loan from Leeds, is playing well for County. Chris Turner hopes to have signed up Joe Dolan, of Millwall, for another month by the time the match comes round.

Stockport beat Oldham and Hartlepool the last two Saturdays in February. Between the two games they lost to Chesterfield at Edgeley Park. This month they have lost away to the Dons and at home to Colchester. At least we have won our last two home matches. We need to make it three on the bounce but will we be able to? Your guess is as good as mine. Supporting the Terriers has never been an easy ride!
