The Final Countdown

Huddersfield Town story posted by Sean Makin on 08/04/2005
With only five matches left of the season but with a few teams with a game in hand this what could happen in League One.The Final Countdown

Luton Town and Hull City should claim the two automatic promotion spots having opened up the gab over their nearest challenges.
Luton are the bookies favourite at 4/11 according to the coral with Hull at 2/1 to win League One.
Luton?s promotion could happen this Saturday if Tranmere Rovers lost at home to already relegated Stockport County and if Luton beat Bournemouth then its promotion for the Hatters. But what more likely to happen is Luton and Hull will have to wait till next week Saturday 16th of April.

A number of teams are trying to climb in the play-offs of League One. Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Swindon have a very slim chance now the gap is now 9 points between these three teams and the play-offs.
Bradford and Doncaster chances are slim as well they are now 8 points behind 6th placed Hartlepool.
Bristol City have a slight chance, are 7 points behind Hartlepool but Brentford are only 6 points behind Hartlepool with 2 games in hand, a chance for Brentford that they must grab.

Down at the bottom, Stockport County were officially relegated after the defeat at home to Brentford, Peterborough United are red hot favourites to join them and they could be relegated this Saturday.
Wrexham and Torquay are in the last 2 relegation places but you could say any team from Blackpool in 16th place downwards are not safe yet.

In the Championship, Town will be certainly playing Rotherham next season as they were relegated last Tuesday night after a 4-3 defeat at Ipswich.
Nottingham Forest are struggling, 5 points away from safety but they have a chance of surviving. Leicester, Plymouth, Coventry, Cardiff, Crewe, Watford, Gillingham and Brighton are not yet safe, any of these teams could be playing Town in Coca Cola League One next season.
