Town v Colchester United
Huddersfield Town story posted by Peter MacGibbon on 14/04/2005
We played out a no-score draw in Colchester late in November. That result was largely a tribute to the two goalkeepers who pulled off some great saves. At that time we were three points ahead of the U?s in the league, this time round we are seven points clear of them.
Our home form is currently as good as it gets in terms of results, five wins on the bounce! Be warned, all the same, Colchester haven?t lost away from home for five games. The last time was against Hull at the end of February. It looks like we will be as evenly matched as we were at Layer Road.
We will be without Carss, Yates and skipper Worthington. Our front line keepers, Rabs and Phil, are currently under treatment; both should be available but neither will be fully fit. Mendes is on form ? he scored a hat trick for the reserves against Doncaster.
For Colchester, Kem Izzet, having played only three games this season, may well be back in contention against us. Richard Garcia and Bobby Bowry, who have also been missing from the squad recently, are now fit and had good run-outs for the U?s reserves in a 6-0 romp on Wednesday. They had both Wayne Brown and Pat Baldwin missing against Hartlepool last week but their ?Nat Clarke equivalent?, John White, played in the middle of defence and got the MOM award!
It could be a good entertaining game but I fear it could well be a draw, putting paid to our slim chances of a play-off place.
