Brentford v Town
Huddersfield Town story posted by Peter MacGibbon on 22/04/2005
Jacko may find it difficult to motivate the players this week with play-off hopes out of the window. Brentford should have no problems in that respect. They need to beat us to consolidate their own play-off hopes, to avenge their heavy defeat last week at the hands of another West Yorkshire club, and to overcome their frustration at the wasted trip to Wrexham. Their game in hand was called off because of a waterlogged pitch. This was a game they probably expected to win.
On the injury front Steve Yates has almost certainly played his last game and ended his career on the 598 game mark. Carss is still injured but there is an outside chance that the Clarke brothers will be available, although Nathan?s facial injury sounded severe. Nat Brown and John McCombe are our defensive back-ups. With only three ?dead? games left Jackson may decide to give Phil a run out after Rabs two gaffes last week
We drew with The Bees at the Galpharm in November but I think we will have our work cut out to hold them at Griffin Park. The bookies are offering 7/2 or better against us.
With Luton likely to be declared Champions tomorrow and Hull also having booked their promotion spot the competition for the play off positions is cut throat. Tranmere are almost certainly home and dry but Hartlepool, Bournemouth, Brentford, Wednesday and, possibly, Bristol City must all fancy their chances for one of the three remaining spots. How I would have liked to include Town in that list! Bournemouth are at home to Peterborough tomorrow so they should be able to take a firm step towards the play-offs. It is up to us to deny The Bees!
