Town v Hartlepool
Huddersfield Town story posted by Peter MacGibbon on 26/08/2005The Pool were last in Town just over a year ago. On that occasion they beat us 2-0 but we got our revenge late in the season when we beat them in Hartlepool. Like us they had a good win in the Carling Cup, earlier this week, beating Darlington There is no doubt this will be a tough game for us, particularly with our injury count.
Macintosh will be out for 3-4 weeks after having an operation on his knee today. It does mean that Tom Clarke has an opportunity for an extended run. Andy Booth and Mark Hudson are still out, as is David Mirfin for a further 4 weeks. Andy Holdsworth and Adnam Ahmed are both back in training but unlikely to be risked this weekend. (We play Doncaster at Belle Vue on Monday).
Pool also have their injuries; Mickey Barron and James Brown will be missing but Eifion Williams and Mark Tinkler are back in contention. If Adam Boyd scores it will be his 50th league goal for Hartlepool. He is certainly used to playing away but let?s hope he has a bit more kit on than when he was seen fleeing through a housing estate in a T-shirt after her boyfriend came home!
The Pool were just beaten by Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off final last season and will be aiming to make it three play-offs in a row this season.
I think we can look forward to a hard game. It will be interesting to see if our strike axis of Pawel Abbott, Danny Schofield and Gary Taylor-Fletcher can do it again. There is no doubt we will miss Tosh in defence, his performances have been first class since he joined us, but remember how well the Clarke brothers performed in harness at the end of last season. Three points, a clean sheet and no injuries would be good. Six points from the weekend would be better!
