We have already played two of the teams promoted from League 2 and now The Iron come to town!
Scunthorpe are sitting two points behind us in the league and are not going to lie down to let us maintain our unbeaten home record. Earlier this week they drew with Hartlepool, 3-3, after leading. The Pool converted a 92nd minute penalty. If Scunny had hung on they would be lying second on the same points as us. Their wins this season have been against Notts Forest away and Barnsley , Tranmere and Southend at home. Dare I suggest that this is a record at least equal to, and possibly better than, ours?
The last time they played at the McAlpine we beat them 3-2, in April 2004. That was the game where Efe was sent off after 63 minutes and Danny followed at 90minutes after an over enthusiastic goal celebration! (It was McAliskey who scored the goal.) I can think of six good reasons for not mentioning the away match played at the beginning of November 2003!
On the injury front we still have Tosh, Andy Booth and Ahmed on the easy list. Adnam did play a full 90 minutes for the reserves the other night but is way short of match fitness. The Iron are missing Steve Torpey and Andy Butler.
I?m guessing that we will probably start with the same eleven who have started the last two matches. I anticipate a good game and hope we will maintain our run.
Let?s give the Terriers good support tomorrow and celebrate Jacko?s MOTM Award as well as the fact that the transfer window has closed and we still have all our Young Guns!
