Oldham v Town

Huddersfield Town story posted by Peter MacGibbon on 08/09/2005
England, last night, joined both Town and Oldham in having a ?bad hair day? . The Terriers were too bad to be true in losing so heavily to Scunthorpe and Oldhams display against Port Vale on Saturday brought the following comment from Ronnie Moore, their manager: ? No one earned their corn. I was embarrassed to be their manager. Against a top notch side we would have been dead and buried by half-time?. Let?s hope we can bounce back and be that ?Top notch side? this week.Oldham v Town

To be fair the Latics still have serious injury worries. Luke Beckett was injured pre-season, the loan keeper they had has gone back to base with a broken finger. Neither Branston nor Stam are likely to come into the reckoning this Saturday. The loan signing season has opened, however, so there may be some unexpected players lining up against us.

For us Adnam Ahmed will probably be back in the squad, he played another 90 minutes for the reserves this week. Mark Hudson also played the full game. Dave Mirfin is still out but may well be back next week.

Oldham are lying mid-table, just three points behind us. We last went to Boundary Park in December and lost 2-1. Interestingly the referee that day was Peter Walton, a local premiership ref, whom I occasionally see in the pub where I go quizzing! We did get our revenge, by the same score, at the Galpharm in February. In both matches it was Pawel that got the goals.

I can?t believe that we will play as badly as we did last week and the Latics still have serious personnel problems consequently I am hopeful that we will get precious away points.
