Terriers v Bees

Terriers v Bees
Another ?six pointer? following on from the games against Swansea and Scunthorpe. We didn?t realise the added importance of the game against Swansea but now they sit top of the league.

A win against Brentford would leap frog us above them. The last time they were in town we drew with them 1-1, Sam Sodje scoring on the hour mark for them and Pav bringing us level ten minutes later. That was in November 2004 and we won the return match at Griffin Park 1-0. In the relegation season we lost to them at home in the opening game of the season, (Mick Wadsworth?s first game in charge!), and they did the double over us winning at Griffin Park at the end of February.

Brentford won at home last week. They beat the draw specialist MK Dons 1-0 whilst we were taking Oldham to the cleaners. Brentford don?t have an outstanding striker, their 12 goals have been spread across ten players. Rankin and Tabb are their top scorers with two apiece. They have only had 31 shots on target this campaign compared with our 60. Interestingly they have scored twice as many goals in the second half of their matches as in the first half. An ominous statistic if we go to sleep in the second half, as we are prone to do! They haven?t picked up a Red Card yet this season and will be keeping their fingers crossed that they don?t get one this week.

Tony Carss is scheduled to start this week. Booth and maybe Adnam Ahmed should find places on the bench. Tosh and David Mirfin are still missing.

We always have good games against the Bees and over the years the results are well balanced. Despite this if we can produce our best form, for ninety minutes, I think we can shade them but it will be close. If it is a draw it should be a score draw; we haven?t had a no score draw for 36 matches!
