Town v Southend

Town v Southend
We played Southend, at Roots Hall, early in the season and made hard work of coming away with a draw against ten men. Since then both Southend and ourselves have experienced the dizzy heights of being top of the table, and both have suffered some setbacks; Southend more than us since they are now down in fifth place, four points behind us. Our recent form isn?t brilliant, we sit mid-table over the last eight games, but the Blues have done even worse. The last 8 games have yielded them only six points compared with our twelve. They haven?t won for six matches and were knocked out of the cup by the M K Dons.

We will be without Danny Adams, serving a one match ban, but this could be a blessing in disguise; he took a knock against Bristol City and might not have been fully fit for this game. The rest will do him good! On the plus side we have Tosh, Adnam Ahmed and John McAliskey all raring to go! Mirfin might well switch to left back leaving the way clear for Tosh to step back into central defence.

Southend?s captain, Kevin Maher, will miss the game. Like Danny Adams he has accumulated 5 yellow cards. Luke Gutteridge is fit again but Shaun Goater will be missing for the rest of this year with a the after effects of a dislocated collarbone. Loan signing winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce will be available but first choice keeper Bart Griemink will be out. He made his comeback on Wednesday in a reserve match but jarred his knee!

On the team squad injury front we definitely look to have the edge!

Freddy Eastwood is determined to stay on the field on Saturday and hopes that the Blues can at least pick up a point. After some poor performances we need to get back into top gear and pick up all three.

Over the years our record against Southend is good, we have won far more games than we have lost.

Swansea are going to lose one of these days, they have a tough match against Donny tomorrow. When they do we want to make sure we are in a winning streak!
