Fletcher Linked With Seasiders and Abbott Moves On
Huddersfield Town story posted by Sean Makin on 08/07/2007
With the deal of Chris Brandon to Blackpool falling through, The Seasiders have turned their attention to Town striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher.
Sources in Blackpool say that the 27 year old Fletcher is a now a prime target for Simon Grayson, who sees Taylor-Fletcher's ability to score goals and play in midfield as an important piece of the jigsaw for Blackpool.
Taylor-Fletcher has notched up 21 goals in 82 appearances for Town and I'm sure many Town fans will want Taylor-Fletcher to stay at the Galpharm.
On other news Ex-Town striker Pawel Abbott is set to join League Two Darlington for ?100,000.
The Polish striker is set to sign a two-year deal with the Quakers this week.
Abbott has been unhappy in South Wales having being frozen out by Swansea manager Roberto Martinez, only scoring one goal in 19 appearances for the Swans.
Darlington boss Dave Penney told the Darlington official website:
"Pawel is a proven goalscorer at this level and higher.
"He's got a great habit of scoring goals and is a player who will excite the fans.
"It is another piece in the jigsaw, but I expect there to be one or two more new faces joining pre-season training before we kick-off against Wrexham on August 11."
Andy Ritchie is still hunting for a new left back with his recent target Robbie Elliott joining Hartlepool this week.
Ritchie has been keen to bring in the experienced left back on a one-year deal but the ex-Newcastle and Bolton star opted for newly promoted Hartlepool United.
It is a blow for Ritchie having seeing his other target, Lee Ridley, join Cheltenham Town last week.
