Pre-Season - So Far So Good
Huddersfield Town story posted by Sean Makin on 20/07/2009
The Terriers have started pre-season well, with four wins and one draw in the first five games but still have Newcastle United, Bradford Park Avenue, Coventry City, Macclesfield Town, Harrogate Town and Wrexham.
The new signings of Anthony Kay (Tranmere), Peter Clarke (Southend), Lee Novak (Gateshead), Theo Robinson (Watford) and Robbie Simpson (Coventry City) so far have seemed to have blended into the squad pretty well.
Town started off by sending two squads to Wakefield and Gateshead respectively on 11th July. A Tom Denton goal saw off Unibond Division One side Wakefield, Denton has since been sent on a six-month loan to Cheltenham Town.
Up in Gateshead, recently promoted to the Blue Square Premier held Town to a 2-2 draw. Town went 2-0 up thanks to goals from Robbie Simpson and Phil Jevons
Four days later, Lee Clark took the first team down to Northamptonshire to face Corby Town. Theo Robinson shone as he bagged a hat-trick in a 3-1 win.
The youth and reserve team players played AFC Emley on Friday 17th. In the pouring rain, Town hammered poor Emley 6-0, A hat-trick from Phil Jevons was the highlight of the match. In amongst the goals were Keigan Parker, Michael Flynn and Leigh Franks
Another Theo Robinson hat-trick saw off League Two side Morecambe, an impressive display by the Terriers in which they virtually dominated the whole match.
Next up for the Town in their pre-season campaign is the visit of Newcastle United to the Galpharm Stadium on the 21st. (7.45pm kick-off)
