Preview: Stockport County
Huddersfield Town story posted by Danielle Boothroyd on 11/08/2009
Town's first cup contest of the season comes in the form of Stockport County on Tuesday night. The financially troubled Lancashire club will visit the Galpharm for a 7.45 kick off in the Carling (league) Cup tie.
County drew 0-0 against Oldham in their first match on Saturday under new manager Gary Ablett. Town also registered a draw at the weekend, coming back from 2-0 down against Southend, and will be looking to progress well in the cup. The league fixtures between the two sides last season both ended in 1-1 draws. This is the first time they have met each other in the Carling Cup.
Team news:
Michael Collins is suspended after his red card on Saturday. Jin Goodwin is still injured so it is likely that James Berrett will go straight into the starting team. Opportunities will be there for some of Clark's new younger players including Lee Novak and Jordan Rhodes, who is already on the score sheet after his goal at Southend. County's side could include Danny Pilkington, brother of the Terriers' Anthony. Oli Johnson is Stockport's danger man and keeper Williams will be tough to beat in goal.
