Gillingham Vs. Huddersfield Town - Match Preview

Town make the long trip to Kent to face Gillingham at the Priestfield Stadium tomorrow (3pm kick-off). Terriers boss Lee Clark will be looking for a positive reaction after Town took hammering by in-form Southampton, the Saints ran out 5-0 winners. Town have only played four times at the Priestfield Stadium in the last ten years and didn’t win any of them, the last time the two sides met at Priestfield was in February 2008 with the Kent side winning 1-0. The two sides met earlier this season at the Galpharm Stadium, Gillingham went 1-0 up inside the first few minutes but two goals in five minutes before the break from Lee Novak and Jordan Rhodes was enough to ensure Town all three points. Form Gillingham have only won one in their last five league games. Losing their last game 2-0 to Carlisle United and have only one once in their last five home games collecting 6 points (one win and three draws) from a possible 15 points. So far this season the Gills have won 8 lost 3 and drawn 6 at home keeping 9 clean sheets in the process. Town’s heavy defeat at Southampton end the Terriers 11 match unbeaten run. Town have won three out of their last four away games and only lost once in their last 12. So far this season away from home Town have won 6 drawn 3 and lost 8 keeping 5 clean sheets. Team News Lee Peltier looks doubtful to face Gillingham after receiving an ankle injury in the 2-2 draw with Leeds United. Tom Clarke looks to keep him place at right back in place of the former Yeovil man. Manager Lee Clark might make changes to his side after an appalling display in midweek, Krystian Pearce, Nathan Eccleston and Theo Robinson are pushing for a starting XI place. Gillingham Team News A “unnamed striker” is 50-50 to face Town tomorrow after picking up a calf injury in the defeat at Carlisle. The Gills captain Barry Fuller is expected to be out for up to six weeks with a broken arm so former Stockport player Danny Jackman is likely to keep the captain’s armband. Defender Simon King is making is way back from injury but is unlikely to be match fit to face the Terriers. Officials The officials tomorrow are referee Fred Graham, assistants David Bushell and Matt Foley and the 4th official is Ian Cooper. One To Watch - Simeon Jackson The 22-year old striker, a Canadian international, is the top scorer for the Gills this season with 12 goals so far in the league. Signed for £150,000 from Rushden and Diamonds in January 2008 after scored 16 goals in 28 starts for them, Jackson scored 21 goals in all competitions last season as Gillingham won promotion from League Two via the play-offs. Known for his lightening pace, Jackson has already troubled Town this season as he put the Gills in front at the Galpharm in December after only three minutes.
