Huddersfield Town took a step closer into securing a League One play-off spot with hard-fought 1-0 win over promotion-chasers Millwall in front of the Sky cameras at the Galpharm Stadium.Huddersfield Town 1-0 Millwall - Match Report
Peter Clarke's first half header from a corner was enough to separate the sides, as Millwall huffed and puffed but couldn't find the back of the net against a strong Town defence. This was to be Town's first win over a top five side this season and the win has put Town six points clear of seventh place Colchester United, who play away at Hartlepool United.

The only change from the 4-3 win over Walsall on Tuesday night was Lee Peltier, who was back from an ankle injury but was played at left-back due to Dean Heffenan being out with a leg problem, which meant Tom Clarke stayed at right-back.
Millwall were without on-loan Ipswich Town midfielder Liam Trotter, veteran striker Neil Harris was on the bench but midfielders Marc Laird and Chris Hackett were back from injury and went straight into the Millwall XI.

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett wouldn't have been pleased as he was forced to make a change as Shaun Batt had to go off injured. The on-loan Peterborough United forward burst into the Town box but appeared to stop and let the ball run out of play. His replacement on-loan Tottenham striker Jon Obika came on, and flashed a shot across goal just minutes after coming on.
Chris Hackett had a shot deflected wide soon after and that was to be the only trouble Millwall caused Town in the first half.

Gary Roberts had a penalty shout with 10 minutes gone, Roberts' cross caught the hand of Jack Smith, it appeared to be ball-to-hand.
Roberts set up Theo Robinson minutes later, who cut in from the left and tested Lions' keeper David Forde with a low drive.

Tom Clarke fired wide after Danny Drinkwater's free-kick and Neal Trotman headed in the side netting from a Town corner with 34th minutes played.

A nice Town build up led to Roberts leaving two Millwall players stood like statues on the corner of the box, Roberts laid the back into the box for Jordan Rhodes who fired just wide from around 10 yards out.

Town were finding their momentum and it paid off in the 39th minute. Anthony Pilkington's corner from the left caught out Millwall keeper Forde and Peter Clarke was waiting at the far post to plant the ball into the back of the net with a strong header.

Millwall looked shaky at the back and Robinson should have got a shot away at goal from a Pilkington cross but Smith was able to get in a vital block.

The Lions came out fighting in the second half, Paul Robinson's header from Hackett's corner was block and Laird failed to hit the target with the follow-up. Kenny Jackett threw on striker Neil Harris and the striker nearly made an instance impact, his cross from the right found Steve Morison, who's diving header flew wide with Alex Smithies diving in despair.

Theo Robinson had a chance with 54 minutes gone but his lob over Forde was wide but Millwall were unlucky not to score when Obika headed against the Town crossbar and Smithies smartly parried Morison's follow up.

The visitors threw everything forward but apart from Obika's header against the bar and Morison's follow up, the visitors rarely tested Smithies in the Town goal. The Town defence had a good game, Peltier did well playing out of position at left back, Trotman and Peter Clarke held firm, with the skipper dealing with everything Millwall threw at him.

The ball is now in Town's court. A win next week against relegated Stockport County should be enough to secure a play-off spot for Lee Clark's men.

Sean's Star Man - Peter Clarke
Outstanding at the back against a side who were 11 unbeaten prior to the visit to the Galpharm. Apart from a clumsy challenge on ex-Town player Danny Schofield in the second half, the skipper rarely put a foot wrong and was there to snuff out any Millwall attacks. Deserved his man-of-the-match.
