Icelandic international midfield Joey Gudjonsson has today signed a two-year deal with Huddersfield Town after passing a medical.Gudjonsson Signs For Terriers

The 30-year old was without a club after being released by Burnley in May after he was made surplus to requirement by the Clarets manager Brian Laws.

The Icelandic midfielder is known for his tough tackling style of play with an eye for goal, scoring some spectacular goals during his career.

Gudjonsson has been capped 34 times by Iceland after starting his career at IA Akranes. He later went to play for Dutch sides MVV, RKC Waalwijk, and AZ Alkmaar. Spanish La Liga's Real Betis paid £3.5 million for the midfielder in 2001. Since then he a loan spell with Aston Villa in 2003, Wolves for the 2003/04 season before signing for Leicester City in August 2004. While at Leicester he was named player of the season once but returned to AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2006. He returned to England with Burnley in January 2007 and helped the Clarets to promotion to the Premier League two years later.
