Preview - Huddersfield Town vs Hartlepool United
Huddersfield Town story posted by Sean Makin on 26/12/2010
The Terrier-Bytes team hope you have all had a good Christmas as Hartlepool United are the visitors to the Galpharm Stadium this Boxing Day afternoon (3.pm kick-off).
The first time Town have been at home on Boxing Day for a few years as the last two have been both away at Carlisle United. Ironically, Town visit Carlisle on New Years Day with a visit to Southampton sandwiched in between today's fixture and the visit to Carlisle. Opposite ends of the country in a matter of days, thank you the Football League.
Today's fixture sees the return of former Town manager Mick Wadsworth who has admitted in an interview this week that he got it "horribly wrong" in his time with the Terriers (We could told you that already Mick). The 60-year old has been around a bit since leaving Town, manager of DR Conga (sacked) and Portuguese club Beira-Mar (resigned), assistant manager at Shrewsbury, Director of football at Scottish side Greta, manager of Chester City (sacked) and finally assistant manager at Hartlepool and then taking over from Chris Turner who was sacked at start of the season.
Wadsworth's Hartlepool could welcome back goalkeeper Andy Rafferty after a hand injury. Strikers Denis Behan and Colin Larkin are available again for selection after recovering from injury but are unlikely to be in the start XI.
Former Town defender Sam Collins is the team captain and an ex-Town trialist Steve Haslam is also in the Hartlepool squad.
For the Terriers defender Lee Peltier will miss the match due to a one-match ban but captain Peter Clarke returns from his one-match suspension.
Benik Afobe could start after returning from Arsenal's U-18 team FA Youth Cup match. Winger Anthony Pilkington this week signed a new two-year extension with the club to the delight of everyone associated with Huddersfield Town.
Sean's Prediction
2-0 to Town this afternoon to give the Town faithful some Christmas cheer.
