Huddersfield Town v Colchester United
Huddersfield Town story posted by Andy Dixon on 25/10/2002
Huddersfield Town's tenth home match of a season already packed with ups and downs sees another of the terriers companions in distress visit the McAlpine. However, decent league form should see Mick Wadsworth's men roll over the side from Essex.
After a disappointing mid-week display at Wrexham in the LDV Vans Trophy, Town will be hopeful of a third successive league victory which could launch them up to mid-table 'safety'. Although last week's victory saw them move up to 17th, the terriers are only three points above the relegation zone, so they must step warily and professionally against the potential banana skin of Colchester.
However, Colchester are also in a sticky situation as they sit 19th in the league and only two points above the bottom four. They were also a team who got knocked out of the LDV competition in the first round, as victims to Cheltenham Town who hammered them 4-1 at Whaddon Road.
Last weekend, Colchester beat relatively high-flying Chesterfield 2-0 at home, but their last away league game saw them draw 2-2 with Swindon Town, who are another struggling side that are below both Colchester and Town. The terriers last league game saw then defeat a poor Mansfield Town 2-0 at Field Mill, one week after beating an equally bad Notts County 3-0 in their last McAlpine outing.
I will be cheering the lads on and hopefully see them snatch their fifth win of the season. Phill will also be there and you can rely on him to bring you all the action in one of his excellent match reports.
Andy's Prediction: Considering the mid-week performances of the two sides, it would suggest that both are coming into the game on the back of unexpected defeats. Therefore, I will predict that the terriers will just edge it with home advantage. I would say 5-0 to Town is the safest bet of all, especially if Smith, Baldry, Thorrington, Stead and Schofield are on fire!
