Report - Huddersfield Town 1-0 Wigan Athletic

Adam Clayton's late strike was enough to see Huddersfield Town claim all three points over Wigan Athletic at a wet and windy John Smith's Stadium.
The midfielder fired in his forth goal of the season with a 20-yard strike with five minutes left on the clock.
The away side had the majority of the possession for most of the match but late Huddersfield pressure forced a goal and denied Wigan a sixth clean sheet in eight games.
Wigan will be wondering how they came away from Huddersfield with nothing having missed a number of chances with debutant Martyn Waghorn guilty of passing up two good openings.
Four changes were made to the Town starting XI from the one that fell to a defeat at Leeds United the previous Saturday - Joel Lynch, Jonathan Hogg, Adam Hammill and James Vaughan replaced Murray Wallace, Oscar Gobern, Calum Woods and Danny Ward respectively.
Both teams started well but Wigan should have took the lead on 17 minutes when Jean Beausejour's cross from the left round Waghorn unmarked at the far post but the striker, on loan from Leicester City, could only fire straight at Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies.
Town responded with James Vaughan agonisingly failing to connect from close range after good work down the right flank from Adam Hammill.
Hammill had an effort himself after beating Emerson Boyce, cutting in from the left the winger struck a curling shot wide of the far post.
The strong winds had an influence on the match with passes going astray and the ball being whipped around in the awful conditions.
Anthony Gerrard nearly diverted Beausejour's wicked left wing cross into his own net but luckily for Town the ball flew just past the far post.
Wigan started the second half like they ended the first with defender James Perch going close with a header from a Latics corner and both Marc-Antonie Fortune and Waghorn going close with the latter firing a volley into the side netting.
Waghorn then missed another clear cut chance just after the hour mark when Beausejour found the striker baring down on goal - but he could only fire over the bar.
At the other end Hammill's clever ball found Paul Dixon, the left-back's cross found Adam Clayton who forced the Al Habsi into a save by tipping the ball over the bar.
Danny Ward was introduced for Nahki Wells and the winger went close but could only find the side netting from Oliver Norwood's cross.
Town were turning the screw as the game was heading into the final quarter as Norwood hit a 30-yard strike that flew just over Al Habsi's crossbar.
Norwood tried again minutes later this time from a free-kick 35-yards from goal but his rasping shot smacked the crossbar and fell kindly for Al Habsi to collect.
With just five minutes to go Town broke the deadlock when Clayton picked the ball 20 yards from goal and smashed a shot that beat Al Habsi at his near post.
The victory was a much needed win for The Terriers after four straight defeats on the bounce but Wigan will be wondering how they didn't get anything from this match.
