The 23-year-old's contract with Town was due to expire this summer, but an option had been put into the deal when Ward signed from Bolton Wanderers for £1m, which allowed the club to extend the contract by a further 12 months.

It was rumoured Championship rivals Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers were interested in the forward.

Town are now currently in talks with Ward's representatives over an extended deal.

The former Bolton man finished the Terriers' second highest goalscorer with 10 goals.

He made 38 appearances last season and it is clear that boss Mark Robins is a fan of the 23-year-old.
