An Almen Abdi double sunk Huddersfield Town as they were beaten by 10-man Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.Report - Watford 4-2 Huddersfield Town

Despite pegging back the hosts twice and having a man sent off midway through the second half, Town's defensive frailties were exposed as Watford continue their impressive start to the season.

Interim manager Mark Lillis gave new loan signing Jack Robinson his debut at right-back due to injuries to both Lee Peltier and Tommy Smith.

James Vaughan made his first start of the season as Nahki Wells was dropped to the bench after taking a knock to the ankle in the draw with Charlton Athletic the previous Saturday.

Vaughan was immediately in the thick of the action as early as the 10th minute when he headed over from Robinson's long throw.

Just five minutes later Watford took the lead as striker Troy Deeney beat Town's offside trap to race onto Daniel Tozser's pass and fire past Alex Smithies.

Just minutes later the Hornets 'keeper Heurelho Gomes had to parry Radi Majewski's long range shot.

Deeney was then close to adding a second but fired into the side netting and Smithies was forced into a save from Ikechi Anya.

Town had the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out by the linesman flag after Vaughan tucked away the rebound when Gomes couldn't hold on to Coady's shot.

Sure enough Town were level three minutes into the second half. Sean Scannell's low cross was spilled by Gomes and Bunn raced on to the ball to score.

The lead only lasted six minutes when Bunn's scuffed clearance was fed back into the box and Abdi was there to thump the ball into the net.

Gomes tipped Vaughan's header around the post after a good cross by Scannell but Town were level on 46 minutes.

The Watford stopper came flying out to claim Jacob Butterfield's corner and got nowhere near it, which gave Murray Wallace the simple task of nodding the ball into the goal.

It was looking even more glum for the Hornets as defender Gabriel Tamas was sent off just a minute later after receiving a second yellow for a foul on Bunn.

Despite being down to ten men the home side pushed on. Smithies tipped Tozser's free-kick around the post but from the resulting corner Watford restored their lead.

Substitute Keith Andrews found the back of the net with a header despite Scannell's best efforts on the goal line.

Town pushed forward in the search of an equaliser. Scannell missed a good chance from Coady's cross and Wells and sub Adam Hammill both had chances saved by Gomes.

But deep into added time Watford sealed the win when Abdi punished Town on the counter attack.
